De Bergse Zonnebloem

Balance between old and new

The Dalton School De Bergse Zonnebloem has a characteristic place in the urban structure of the neighbourhood. To retain this and to make place for a substantial extension, the least valuable part of the school has been demolished. In its place, we have designed a compact, multifunctional school building. The new building responds to the volume of the existing school and opens towards the neighbourhood, without losing the character of the original ‘Rotterdam School’.
