History of the water

The design of the community hall evokes the history of Dutch water. Originally a settlement on the dyke of the South Holland polder, Hank was engulfed by water during the St. Elizabeth flooding disaster. The community hall is situated on an embankment and designed as a series of brickwork water barriers, a reminder of the influence of water on Hank.
